India (1990 – Eternity)

India is my home. Unfortunately, I did not explore my home country much because I was unaware of its beauty. However, in 2013 I traveled a bit around Pune and took some pictures of the mountains during the monsoon.

Trails

Kaas, Lohgad, Sinhgad, all near Pune.

Food

Food hygiene can be an issue in some places in India. However, the food is just as good as any other top cuisine in the world in terms of flavors. On top of that, the prices are quite affordable. Indian street food is very experimental, and even I am amazed at the variety and new ideas people come up with.

Transportation

Public transportation is cheap, sometimes very clean, and most of the times as you would expect in a developing country.

People

At least I have not been able to understand Indians fully. Sometimes they are rude and impolite, and at other times the hospitality leaves you deeply touched. It is a country of contrasts. Despite being an Indian myself, I am still learning how to deal with India's people. Although a golden rule is not expecting too much and taking it as it comes.

Special Experiences

The transformation of an arid landscape into a vibrant green every year when the monsoon arrives is incredible to witness. The amount of trash on roads in big cities and the people's apathy towards it is just too difficult to absorb.
