Switzerland (2017)

I traveled to Switzerland when I was a somewhat financially broke student studying statistics. Traveling within Switzerland would not have been possible without my friends Aniket Nagle and his wife, Samyukta. They hosted me for a week and packed me lunches for the hiking trips. I am very grateful to both of them for their help. Overall I think Swiss trails were exceptionally well maintained, and the views were downright gorgeous.

Trails

Grachen, Valle Verzasca, Kandersteg and Pfaffikon to Einsiedeln

Food

Food in Switzerland was almost un-affordable as a student. Neither was I able to try local wines, nor cheeses.

Transportation

Very expensive but integrated with a single travel pass.

People

Given the short duration for which I stayed in Switzerland, I could not know much about Swiss people. Having said that, much like in the rest of the well-to-do countries in western Europe, swiss locals keep to themselves.

Special Experiences

At Pfaffikon railway station, a lady offered me a Baguette to eat after seeing that I was using a plastic bag as a rain jacket (mine was soaked a day before). I think that was very kind of her. She also showed her concern regarding the length of the trail, even though it was rather short.
